Art!

It has been too long since I have been able to play in my studio. I have been cleaning it for a challenge and because I couldn't find anything in it! But although I am not quite done, I let myself play yesterday... and this is the result. I have been thinking alot about my sis who has been undergoing some nasty testing this past couple weeks. She is a musician, and loves nature.

The hand is a photo transfer on flannel, and is reaching for the bell. The bird was a find at an antiquing expedition with my sis, and represents freedom. My hope is for her freedom from serious illness.

I REALLY like your piece, Kim! Lots of fabric and chatchkies--and you made them work together wonderfully! And all the best for your sis!

Making this for your sis was so thoughtful - I'm sure she'll love it and appreciate the tribute so much. I can appreciate your feelings too , since my sister is a breast cancer survivor - it was a rough trip. You both have my best wishes and prayers.

love this Kim and I know your sister will too. Best wishes for a finish to the testing and good results.
I love how each of these elements could be taken apart and made into a completed piece. Very much the way Beryl Taylor would have approached this and why I think it is so perfectly combined. I love the transfer onto flannel and the way you did the plastic/glass over the girls especially.
