I am belatedly enjoying your Christmas vignettes in their carefully crafted settings. I'm especially intrigued with what appears to be a hand-hewn mantle shelf and the stonework behind it.

I adore your nativity scenes and while these days I'm mostly pagan, I still have such a love of the history of Christianity and how a little baby could change the world so dramatically. I love singing charols and remembering being a child and just believing in everything. I still believe in everything <3

I love my mantel! I think the family before us put it in...it wouldn’t surprise me to find he cut it himself, he left us almost two cords of wood I know he cut! The stonework, I am afraid, is not very deep. The photos of the house when owned by the folks previous to them had an ugly black white wall with a fireplace but no mantle or wood stove. Oh well.

Oh Yarrow it’s good to hear from you! I hope your lovely French home is making you feel warm and cozy still. It is true that it is amazing how just one person could turn the world upside down,

My crèche has been built over more than three decades and every year I plan to put a cave in place of the barn but I haven’t done it yet! Maybe 2021 is the year! I haven’t a big place to display it, so vignettes rather than a single spread.

Almost Summer, Winter is A-coming.
